I'll be attending this year's Emerald City Comicon. Will likely be the last time to get a signed copy of "The Story Of Inc", as I only have about 30 books left. Will also have a bunch of prints including many new "Megastructures" designs. Hope to see you there!

Reaction Diffusion In Photoshop
Reaction Diffusion is an algorithm that mimics the chemical process that's responsible for a lot of patterns we see in the natural world. The stripes on a zebra, the spots on a cheetah or giraffe. Fish have these sorts of patterns, plants, coral, etc. And considering how often these patterns appear in nature, its amazing how little commercial software there is out there to create them. Here's a trick in Photoshop that, while not as full featured as a dedicated piece of software, can still make some really interesting reaction-diffusion type patterns.

Cloud City
Posted a crop of this last year, but here's the full image, the Cloud City from Megastructures: The Visual Encyclopedia.
A Cloud City is a category of structures that would allow your city to float above the ground unaided by hanging (like a Ceiling City) or pushing from the ground (like a Megatall Skyscraper). The first type would not be that different from modern hot air balloons, although any lifting gas could potentially be used. Another type would be a city that uses flowing air to remain aloft, like perhaps a battery of large helicopter rotors surrounding the structure. Another type would use magnetic levitation to rise above the planet’s surface.

Armada 4
A quick keyframe thumbnail of an invading armada of spacecraft. Maybe I'll just stick to rough thumbnails for the rest of my life :)
